BLACK TRAVEL EXPERIENCES 2026

3 travel experiences curated for the standard.

Travel Experiences have a deep history in Black cultural life. From Black Yacht Weekend to newer gatherings like HBCU Legacy Week, these are the travel experiences worth showing up to.

Black Yacht Weekend

Miami · May · 3-4 days

Black Yacht Weekend is a luxury cultural experience held annually in Miami, designed for Black executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals. The multi-day experience features yacht parties, beach dinners, brunch series, panel discussions, and networking activations. Past activations have included partnerships with Black-owned spirits brands, premium hospitality providers, and yacht charter companies. The weekend has become a fixture on the calendar of Black professional cultural travel.

The Family Reunion

Middleburg · August · 3 days

The Family Reunion is a curated annual weekend gathering held in Middleburg, Virginia, the heart of Virginia's horse and wine country. The event brings together a select group of Black professionals, founders, creatives, and cultural leaders for an intimate three-day experience featuring private dinners, salon conversations, wellness programming, and outdoor activations. The gathering is designed as an alternative to large-scale conference culture, prioritizing depth of connection over volume of attendance and offering a luxury, residential atmosphere closer to a country house party than a convention.

HBCU Legacy Week

Oak Bluffs · July through August · 5-7 days

HBCU Legacy Week is an annual week-long celebration of Historically Black College and University alumni community held on Martha's Vineyard in late July or early August. Programming includes alumni mixers organized by school, fundraising events benefiting HBCU scholarship funds, beach activations, brunches, a signature gala, and integration with other Vineyard cultural programming. The week has become one of the most concentrated gatherings of HBCU alumni outside of homecoming season and a fixture of the Vineyard's Black professional summer.
